Here is another presentation that I made with Lee, Faauia, and Kris. We made this DLO because our literacy teacher gives us a task that we have to do, and this one was to make a Digital Learning Object about whales. Hope you enjoy!

Black Box Part 1

When Notch got to school, he saw that that the school inquiry was ‘Discovering amazing things’. “Well,” Notch thought, “ I've discovered enough for one week. That E.T was crazy!”  He didn’t want anything to get any crazier than he had in the holiday.

He heard a sound like a plane, and when he looked up, he saw the plane get closer to the ground. Notch ran after it, as he wanted to see if the plane would crash. As he got closer to the sea, he saw that the plane started fading away! “WHAT THE!!??” he thought.

When school started, he ran to tell his teacher the news. “...And, t-t-then,” Notch said worriedly, “T-t-the plane-e disa-sa-peared!” “Well!” His teacher said, “Do you want to find out what happened?” “YES!” Notch answered.

When Notch’s teacher turned on the news channel, it said that a plane had disappeared and no-one had any information. They didn’t even know where it was last seen. “So if anyone saw what happened,” The news man said, “Please call 911 IMMEDIATELY! We need YOUR information!” Notch looked at his teacher. “Well?” He said.

When Notch called the police, he told them where the plane disappeared. “Do you know what number it was?” The police asked. “Well,” Notch answered, “I saw the black box. 9327.” The police searched up that number, and then they found out that the plane was the plane with the cure for the new disease, Enthropox.

If someone has Enthropox, then their tonsils will swell up and then the person gets brain damage. They start seeing things, and soon enough they can’t talk properly. Then they get yellow spots, and soon after, they get ulcers. While they die, the disease spreads to nearby people, and then the disease spreads even more. Soon enough, the whole world of humans will die.

So finding that plane was vital for Earth. When the police looked again for 9327, they could track it’s location. Once the police arrived, it was go time.

“Can I come with?” Notch asked. “No you can’t, you’re too young!” A policeman answered. “HEY!” Notch yelled. Everyone looked at him. “IF IT WEREN'T FOR ME, YOU’D PROBABLY BE SEARCHING LOS ANGELES!! YOU’D BE NOWHERE NEAR HERE!” After Notch stopped yelling, everyone just stood there looking at him. “I’m coming along.”

Oklahoma tornado

When I saw the news on TV, I was shocked. Oklahoma had been struck by a 2 mile (6 km) wide tornado, and the death toll was 91. A huge tornado tore through an Oklahoma City suburb, trapping victims beneath the rubble as a school took a direct hit and another was destroyed.

It was all over the news. Every news channel that I went on was talking about the tornado, and the weather channel said more is to come. I was kind of freaked out, as the same afternoon I saw a tornado forming, but then it just dissapeared.

On one of the news channels they interveiwed a girl who was in one of the schools that got hit, and she said; "There was a huge boom in class when the tornado struck, so she hid in the doorway, the tornado broke everything, and then there was dirt coming in my eyes, shirt, pants, and everything else."

I feel so sad for the people who lost their lives when the tornado hit, and for everyone in Oklahoma, my heart is with you!

All in a day

I woke up to the yelling of my mum. "GET UP!" She yelled. You're going to be late for your first soccer game!" Last night my family stayed up late watching movies, and that was why we woke up late. When we were done, we headed towards the field.

When we were there, I soon found out who my team mates were. When our first game started, it got off to a pretty normal start. The opposition scored 4 goals in the first half, and we scored 1. In the second half, they scored 1, and we scored 3. The person who scored the first goal was one of our mid-fielders, David, another goal was scored by our striker, Flynn, and the last two goals I scored. The score was 5-4.

After that, we went out for my sisters game. They were playing against the 8-year old reps, and my sister's team lost. After that surprising game, we went out for lunch. At Nando's, we were quizzing my dad. "Where do Border Collies originate?" I asked. "From Scotland." Dad answered. "And--" My sister continued. "I don't know." He answered. "England!" I shouted.

Once lunch was over, we walked towards the cinema. We were going to watch Star Trek: Into Darkness. When we got all the stuff done, we walked in the movie house. When we were there, there were just some ads playing. Then, the movie started.

After that, we went home.

The Orca

The Orca is a species from the dolphin family. It can be found in all oceans, from the Arctic and Antarctic seas to the tropical oceans.  It's scientific name is Orcinus Orca. Here are some more scientific facts I found out.

Killer whales as a species have a diverse diet, although individual populations often specialize in particular types of prey. Some feed exclusively on fish, while others hunt marine mammals such as sea lions, seals, walruses, and even large whales.

Killer whales are not considered a threat to humans, although there have been cases of captives killing or injuring their handlers at marine theme parks.

Worldwide population estimates are uncertain, but recent results suggests an absolute minimum of 50,000. Local estimates include roughly 25,000 in the Antarctic, 8,500 in the tropical Pacific, 2,250–2,700 off the cooler north-east Pacific and 500–1,500 off Norway.

Yesterday, Mr Burt told us that someone important was coming to our school and was going to donate something special to Manaiakalani, but he couldn't tell us who it was. I wondered who it was and what they were going to give us.

When I was in assembly today, I was very curious about who the guest was.  Mr Burt said, "Ever heard of the Black Eyed Peas?" "Yes!" We all answered. "Who in the group do you think it is? Here's a clue. That's why we have the Hip Hop group performing. Who is it?" Then, the answer was clear. It was

While we were waiting, we had a practice for when he came, as he was stuck in traffic. When he came,  the whole hall was filled with screams. I covered my ears. When Mr Burt came up to talk, everyone stopped screaming. "Phew!" I thought.

Will came up to talk, he told us about what he was going to do for us. "My mission is to help the lives of disadvantaged youths and I hope my donation will help young people gain the skills they need for tomorrow's job market," he said. That meant he was a philanthropist.

When Will was done, he picked up a $100,000 check and gave it to the children from the other schools that came.
Then, the Pounamu group came up to perform. Once they were done, the Hip Hop group came up to perform.

Now I want to be a philanthropist!

Sea Tempretures

In class, we made a chart about the temperature in the water in Antarctica, and this was the result. It actually gets warmer!
